Dear Friends, Well Wishers and Supporters
It gives us great joy to greet you through this news letter. SO MUCH has happened after the last news letter. Please see below the activities through which we were able to help the underprivileged to bring joy and happiness in their lives.
Apart from the regular activities at the orphanage and the communities such as caring for the 70 kids between 2 and 5 ( none of the children fell ill ) providing them with food, clothes, shelter, teaching them songs, stories, painting, crafts, games and much more and ..also serving the 220 poor widows, the youth and the children of the communities ...pls see below some highlights of our programs this quarter.
SANGITA CHRISTMAS
At the Orphanage
Great time for the kids...new clothes, lots of food “Biriyani” cakes, sweets, fire works, celebrations, santa claus, gifts, reunion with the older children, visitors, and much more brought great joy and happiness for the children and the staff.
Sports Day For Children
The Children and the staff enjoyed half a day of fun and sports competitions.We could see so much of joy in them and hear a lot of laughter.... the very purpose of this project!!!
At the Communities
10 to 14 poor villages benefit out of this program
Christmas for the widows
Oh ! the widows from the villages had a great time of receiving clothes , bedsheets, “ BIRIYANI” . The widows were filled with great joy as they received their new saris. For most of them its the first time they receive gifts in their life time during our programs.
Sports For the Village Children and youth
Children from 10 villages came together at the Sangita centre . We had sports competitions for the children and cricket and soccer for the youth. The children and the youth were taught lessons on ethics and moral values to be good and successful human beings in the society.
Medical Camp
A Medical and eye camp was conducted for the village people on the 18th and 19TH of Feb . Venture Christian Church California helped us conduct the medical camp.More than 300 people benefitted out of this camp. Over 200 people were provided with free eye glasses. It was celebration time for many of them as they could see colours and things and people after many months.
Widows Monthly Program
More than 200 widows who are poor and old benefit out of this program every month . They are provided with rice, dhal (lentils) sugar and vitamin tablets every month. The widows are taught values and the ill effects of bad habits such as chewing tobacco etc, and great truths and values that enable them to live in peace and harmony in their villages . They are happy to come every month .
Thier general health and also their moral, spiritual and emotional outlook towards life has been strengthened.
New Orphanage Building in Progress
We are grateful and proud to let you know that we are building our own home for the orphanage children commenced in Feb 2008 and is in progress. The Children stay in rented homes and they desperately need a home of their own.
New Community Centre in progress
Here the poor ,old , widows will be provided with breakfast,lunch and snacks.
Our New Project.
We are planning to send 25 children for schooling from this academic year onwards June 2008. They will have the privilege of studying in an English Medium School . These children in the course of time will be nurtured with great values and truths of life that they will be able able to carry on the noble work of Sangita from generation to generation.
