Beloved Friends and Partners
We are very delighted to meet with you through this news letter, to let you know about the happenings of the Sangita Ministries in the past 3 months. This period of time had been very busy and hectic both at the orphanage and in the communities. The summer heat went upto 110 degrees and we thank God that none of the children were affected by the immense heat.
Sangita Orphanage
We were very happy to have our older kids with us during the summer break. The children enjoyed their holidays at the Sangita Home . During the month of May the children enjoyed learning a lot of stories, songs, paintings and crafts through the vacation bible school . The month of May was a great holiday time for them.
End of May many new children were admitted in the orphanage. There are 65 children with us at present apart from the 10 children who have crossed 5 years and gone for schooling. The home is overflowing with kids and we hope to move out soon so that we can accommodate many more kids. The new children have adjusted themselves and are happy and cheerful.
Pre School Programme
Out of the 65 children 25 of them will be attending preschool programme from August 15th onwards. This we have initiated in partnership with another organization so that the children will be well equipped to start schooling next year.
Sangita Community Transformation Work
During the month of May ,for the first time during summer we experienced storm and outrageous winds that damaged the community centre at the Sangita land. The entire thatched sheds and the restrooms were damaged and the whole place was littered . It was an heartbreaking sight and a very difficult period for us since this was newly built for the widows and the community people . We were encouraged by friends and partners of the ministry and through the prayers and support gathered courage to rebuild the roofing of the rest rooms and the community centre.
Due to this during the month of May we were not able to distribute the monthly provisions for the poor widows since the whole place was littered with debris. On June 10th we were able to distribute to them 2 packets of provisions for the month of May and June. We had this programme under temporary shelters.
Eye Glasses
We were able to provide on the same day eye glasses to the village people. Most of them were very excited that they were able to see colours people trees and object s after many many months and some after years. What a joy was it for us !!!!!!!!!
We continue to teach them good values of life and help them to come out of the many bad habits that they are involved with due to poverty and lack of awareness.. Slowly many of them are getting out of these habits.
The vitamin supplies that we provide them have helped them in their health over the past months. The widows eagerly look forward to receiving the provisons every month.
New Community Center
The community centre is almost ready with stronger roof and steel pipes that has replaced the thatched leaves and bamboo poles. The centre is much stronger and braves the strong winds and cyclonic weather. We were really privileged to have the widows programme during the month of July at this new centre. The widows and we are very glad about it. We thank each and every one of them who helped us through this period of crisis.
Values Thro SKIT
After 3 months of working with the widows and providing them with provisions we are able to develop good relationship with them that has helped us to put up a small skit for them and teach them good morals that would help them to be good human beings and live a better life in their communities.
