Dear Friends
We are very glad and excited be back with you sharing about the happenings at the Orphanage during this last quarter.
New Children
The hot summer season is over and the new academic year is begun. This is the period when we take in many new children into the orphanage. The children who have crossed the age of 5 have started to go to school. We were able to send 34 children for education this year. Many new children have come into the home. Children of leprosy patients, beggar’s children, abandoned children, and children who have been victims of various types of abuse have found place in our home. This is the toughest period of the year when we cope with the new arrivals who are basically very poor in health. They take a couple of days or more to adjust to the new home and take about 3 months time to get to normal health. We consider it a privilege and honour to serve these lovely children to bring joy, happiness and meaning into their lives
Return of Shobha and Bargavi
Many of our readers would have met Shobha or known Shobha who was with us as a caretaker of the orphanage. Shobha along with her daughter was a victim of harassment and abuse by her husband before she came to our home. During the year 2002, nowhere to go in the streets of Bangalore contemplating whether to live anymore, she was led to our home by a missionary. Recently during September 2005 her husband got in touch with her, apologized for his earlier behavior, promised a bright future for her. Believing him as any woman would do here she went with her daughter, even without considering to let us know. In no time she was duped, relieved off all her savings and the little gold jewelry that she managed to get for her daughter. In a short while they were back on the streets and Shobha called and asked whether there is place for her and her daughter at the Sangita home. The children at our home are between 2 and 5 and to accommodate Bargavi who is 9 years has to be an exception. God’s love prevailed over everything and she and her daughter is back with us the child Bargavi is very traumatized and she does not want to go to a boarding school for studies. She and Sarah (Babloo, the child who was with us since she was 5 months) have started to go to a nearby school. Its 2 weeks since they have come and they look up to God and us for their future. Please remember Shobha and Bargavi and the many such women and children of our societies whom we care in your prayers.
