Warm greetings from all at Sangita
We are very happy to greet you through this news letter. So much has happened in our ministries in the past 4 months and its our privilege to share our joys with you. Apart from the regular activities of providing the children with a happy and healthy atmosphere and working towards transformation of the underprivileged communities.... kindly find below few high lights of this quarterxs activities.
SANGITA ORPHANAGE
During the month of April and May 10 children who have graduated from our orphanage studying in another orphanage who do not have parents or relatives to take them to spend few days with them during the school holidays came to us to spend their summer vacation with us. It was a wonderful experience for us as well as for them to be together sharing with them about their future and listening and answering to them the many questions that they have. We had wonderful times with them and the most memorable day was the time we spent with them at a beach resort. They have gone back for the new academic year looking forward to coming back.These are the children who will soon carry out the work of Sangita after they finish their higher studies.
SCHOOL GOING CHILDREN
The whole month of June was very hectic with our new project. We have been dreaming about sending the children who complete 5 years at our orphanage to English medium school where they will study English and computers, instead of sending them to other orphanages for education. Twenty five children have been admitted in the lower kindergarden, upper kinder garden and 1st grade this academic year.
It has been a great challenge for us to cope with all the hectic activities of uniforms, books, teaching etc. The children have settled down well now and itxs a great feeling of joy to see them study in English. Special coaching classes have been arranged for them to cope in English at home. Four teachers teach them for 2 hours each day.
PRE - SCHOOL CHILDREN
Another 25 have been admitted for pre-schooling classes. These children attend school for 3 hours a day. Here they are well prepared to cope with regular schooling for the next academic year.
MEDICAL CHECKUP
All the children at the orphanage went through medical check up in the month of July. Most of the children were found healthy but few children who had joined now new needs medical attention that has been taken care of.
SANGITA COMMUNITY WORK
Widows Program
Every month more than 225 widows benefit out of the program of providing them with food supplies. We have been able to teach them many good values of life. Most of the widows have benefited out of this program and have found their lives to be much more healthy and meaningful.
Village Children's Program
Our burden is that the children in the underprivileged villages learn good values in life that will enable them to become responsible citizens in the society. Periodical sports programs are organized for them in order to get them together. One such program was organized for about 120 children from the neighboring villages. The children participated well and they were taught values and great truths of life through small dramas and teachings. Prizes were distributed to the children to encourage them for regular participation.
Youth Program
At the Sangita property 2 volley ball courts have been put up to render special coachingxs to the village youth and to conduct competitive tournaments among different village youth to promote unity and friendship among them apart from teaching them to be responsible members in the society.
WE THANK THE UNIVERSITY TEAM FROM THE UK WHO HELPED US PUT UP THE VOLLEYBALL COURTS AND CONDUCT THE SPORTS PROGRAM.
OUR NEW ORPHANAGE BUILDING PROGRESS
The first building block super structure is almost over. The other internal detail is being worked out and is in progress.
